Water fight – simple as.
Balloons and super soakers galore, gin cocktails on plastic tables, retro swimwear donned, sun shining like mad, screaming like when we were 6 years old, Springsteen on the boombox….
Bliss.
Al fresco eating:
Everyone loves a good BBQ. Good food and good company for those lazy, sunny afternoons. Bratwurst sausages, the all important cheese burger, corn on the cob, lamb kebabs, roast veg and haloumi skewers… I could go on!
Summer clothes, patio chairs and gazebos. The paddling pool full of ice and beer. Fairy lights and candles for when the light fades. A day of lying in the grass, good conversation and drinking long into the night. Ideal really when you think about it!
Oh and don’t forget to barbeque the bananas with melted chocolate buttons-trust me, its always a winner!
Playing naked statues. *
It not only improves the posture, sky rockets the concentration levels, and is highly competitive with a ‘streak’ of fun… but also confuses Mr and Mrs Brown next door as they peek over the fence.
* not to be played near BBQs, pets or at family weddings! Trust me.. it’s not safe!!!
Romping!
You get your toes covered in due
Grass feels moderately orgasmic
You can wear a special suit while you do it
Being barefoot. Aah.
(Have you ever? … Then you already know why.)
Bring the Garden Festival. We’re ready.
Has to be washing line slalom! Weaving in and out of the clothes on my washing line that hangs right across the middle of my lawn against the clock in the summer sun. Best performed after a bucket or two of Pimms
I’m putting it forward as an exhibition event for London 2012 but I’m not holding my breath.
Have you ever played croquet? No? It isn’t simply the sport of toffs. Combine with great weather, cold beer and maybe a BBQ, then spend an afternoon soaking up the atmosphere. There is a lot more to it, than simply hitting a ball round with a mallet, though when suitably drunk and socialising, who cares?
Watching the fairies at the bottom of the garden.
The rabbits hold up lanterns for them and sometimes I leave out fairy cakes. They’re pretty shy but, sometimes, on warm summer evenings, they like to have a dance (one of them plays the tambourine) and they all stand up and sing when the Fairy King and Queen descend. You wouldn’t believe how beautiful they are.
If the fairies aren’t there, we usually just have a barbeque and some beers, which my boyfriend prefers anyway.
BBQ and beer! in the sun with a beer in hand and a bunch of really zoned out friends, what else do you need?
Oh cake..yes throw that in too and some good tunes and thats the best garden activity ever (well the one thats the least filthiest!)
x
Quite clearly the best garden activity is an afternoon romp followed by some sprinkler running, followed by a nice nap on one of those deep white cushioned loungers; top up your fun with a nearly naked butler serving the very finest Mojitos and you have yourself a garden afternoon.
C’mon you lot, it’s aggressive swingball and you know it…
da best. Keep it going! Thank you
