Faust -

The classically fiendish, grossly respected Faust (Werner "Zappi" Diermaier, Jean-Herve Peron) roll back into town once more. Those of you who consider yourselves purists to their trade in lo-fi, dissident sub-chordia shall not, as ever, be disappointed. The rest of us, fond admirers of their raw take on prog rock and their own, potent brand of psychedelia, also have much to look forward to. Riff-thrusting melodies and off-the-wall percussion will permeate the soul, most likely sourced from their most recent studio album "Disconnected" (with Nurse With Wound, Rermegacorp, 2007). A vinyl edition of "Disconnected" is due for release this year with entirely different tracks from the original recording.

Shit and Shine -

Shit and Shine's core skill lies in gourmet drumming, which positively adjusts ones' physical homeostasis when heard live. All the while, more subtle vibrations sourced from string, electrode and vocal chord, nibble at your ear lobes with affection. Their music, as their name suggests, is a combination of sin and purity. The latest album ("Kuss Mich Meine Liber" - Load, 2008) wholly exploits these themes, methodically busting genres with mechanic precision and lively chutzpah. Fortune favours the brave, and artists like this have no fear.

Goodiepal -

With more AKAs than a dyslexic arms dealer, it was never going to be easy to verbally promote Goodiepal (AKA Kristian Vester). As another progeny from the European rave set, for those of you who are new to his ways, Goodiepal plies a moreish trade in the musically unfathomable. Fizzy beats, Godzilla-with-a-hangover growls, Western-front whistles. Not to mention the possibility of model planets and mechanical birds, demonstrated by the hand that made them. Sci-hi-fi at its singular best.

Rough Trade DJs -

With access to the record collection that plastic dreams are made of, it would take a God-and-sunny-Jesus miracle for these guys to be undersold. Vintage post-punk, steady rock and rolling toe-tappers cement the bricks of any line-up. Architecturally sound.
