Another Friday, another storming party. Minus the storms (hopefully). It's the start of the weekend so there's no messing about with line-ups. This is another sureshot: the super Tim Sweeney from New York headlines, with the utterly brilliant Subway and the space bar averse teenagersintokyo playing LIVE and Stopmakingme in dj support. Can you feel it?
Headlining the event we have one of our favourite djs here at Cargo HQ, the host of the legendary NYC radio show Beats in Space: Tim Sweeney. One of the main staple djs in the DFA roster, Tim Sweeney is, via his dj sets, arguably the best exponent of cosmic disco; top notch mixing skills and superb selector, his dj sets will not leave you indifferent.
Subway released their terrific sophomore album a few months back via Soul Jazz Records. Subway II finds the London-based duo of Michael Kirkman and Alan James further exploring their vision of "post-dance" music, drawing on influences from the worlds of 70s krautrock, Detroit techno and European disco.
Back Yard Recordings' signing teenagersintokyo share roster with The Gossip and Chromeo; and for good reason. They deliver fast paced, electric live sets, where electro music and songs with a pop sensibility collide to devastating effect. Cargo's dancefloor is in for a treat.
In the all-important support dj slots are Stopmakingme, a London dj who specialises in the more edgy side of the neo-disco sound, and Tas Deadly, the mastermind behind the This Is Not London parties; both providing a perfect backdrop for the night's proceedings.
If you come down to this, make sure you bring your dancing shoes with you or you'll be nursing blisters til Christmas.
