Cargo's Free Fridays roll on with another wildly eclectic yet ultimately satisfying line-up. The top of the bill is reserved for the big surprise at this year's SXSW. Toadally Krossed Out somehow managed to not just secure for themselves the closing slot at the Mad Decent party but also to steal the show with their toadally bonkers performance. It sounds cliche to say it, but this time it's completely justified: Don't Miss This!
Mad Decent has become infamous for putting on some mad crazy parties worldwide helped by an impressive roster of djs and producers who understand exactly what is needed to turn dancefloors into an absolute mess. For Free Fridays this 4th of September the Mad Decent crew have sent to Cargo two of their most exciting numbers. Toadally Krossed Out killed it at the SXSW Mad Decent party. Picture the scene: two half naked Welsh boys in frog masks playing the craziest ribbit-laden party tunes. You can't argue with that.
Paul Devro, another Mad Decent pupil, will be on hand to set the stage for the toads. With a penchant for Baile Funk and Three-On-The-Third beats, expect the ambient temperature in Cargo's arch 3 to raise to hitherto unknown levels. Check out his We Make It Good mix for a taste of things to come. Oh, and bring your dancing shoes.
Agaskodo Teliverek are a group of London-Hungarian stallions led by Miklos ‘The Accountant’ Kemecsi. Leaving bizarre visions of Eastern European Horse-Rearing City Folk aside, this band is tight as a tiger and never fail to entertain with throbbing guitar riffs, electronic basslines and manic vocals. Their new EP ‘Psycho Goulash’ has been described as sounding like a motorway pile-up, in a good way, while Plan B Magazine described their music and ability to manipulate the absolute crazy and completely unheard of as ‘a gourmet meal in the shape of a flesh-eating virus.’ You can't argue with that either...
Publicist, aka Sebastian Thomson, brings his new solo drums-and-electro project to Cargo after the release of his latest 12” ‘Momma and Stone Age’ on Touching Music Records, that also features the collaboration of funk master Ian Svenonius. His experimental cosmic sound assures an out of this world experience.
Cardiff trio, Joy of Sex, cancel out the guitars with their thumping drum lines. They released their self-entitled debut album this month with Robot Architect. Post-punk electro. In your face.
Warming up proceedings, Brighton UK Funky-meets-roots outfit Warrior One will be laying thick slabs of warm 4/4 beats.
