Brazilian prodigy Edu K will be headlining the night. His killer party track ‘Popozuda Rock ‘n' Roll,' kick-started the whole baile-funk movement, and got all the booties out and moving on down in 1999 and it seems he's pretty intent on keeping it that way with the release of his latest EP, ‘Party Munky,' last year with Berlin-based Man Recordings. Expect dancefloor devastation.
From deep within the Basque forest, the Crystal Fighters have emerged with their txalapartas and embarked on their quest to bring to the London dance scene their unthinkable infusion of Basque folk and dance-electro synthesised beats. The band has been playing out venues this summer with their crazy ‘Globo-wonk-funk' after the release of ‘Xtatic Truth' by French record label Kitsuné last month. Their online superhit ‘I love London,' which is still awaiting release, was also voted one of the top 100 records of 2008 in Mixmag. Their live sets are also rapidly gaining a reputation for being the stuff of legends.
Valentina Fel's music is an addictive blend of electro, rock, dub, hip hop and flamenco, yet she can not be relegated to any of those classifications. She is truly an original voice - equally comfortable riding the rhythms as a ferocious emcee, a haunting singer, or an animated comic.. The unique music-bed for Valentina's self-titled debut album, is provided courtesy of innovative up-and-coming producer Erasmo Parra. The dancehall-ready beats are fresh and infectious, but make no mistake about it...these tunes carry a message.
The Mono have finally been tracked down (they like to hide out on a little island in Kent) and bring with them their sound from the new age to play their first set pretty much ever. Dance-electro. Innovative pop. There really isn't much more I can say... they're a mystery you need to figure out on your own!
Finally, Ali Hislop, member of the Get Me! DJ collective, will be spinning tropical flavoured tracks in between sets to keep the party moving.
