2008 has been one hell of a year for Horse Meat Disco. Celebrating its 5th Birthday only a couple of months ago HMD has come a long way from its humble beginnings in a Chinatown basement. This summer in particular has seen HMD headlining festivals weather as DJs or part of the amazing NYC Downlow at Glastonbury and Lovebox Weekender.
What better way to look back on an incredible year whilst looking forward to more good times in 2009 with a big old rave up on New Year's Eve. As well as the residents James Hillard, Jim Stanton, Filthy Luka, Adrian Fillary and Severino we've enlisted the help of two of our favourite DJs to help spread the love.
First off is a HMD regular for the last couple of years and a legend in his own right. DJ Daniele Baldelli. Having been resident at seminal Italian clubs Baia Degli Angeli and Cosmic he has created a unique style all of his own. Technically gifted to a degree that induces envy coupled with a selection of music that is inspirational to say the least, Baldelli is every bit the journey DJ and if his many guest spots at Horse Meat Disco are anything to go by 2009 will be ushered in with a seismic bang!
Joining Baldelli will be another DJ who has been making massive waves in 2008. Tim Sweeney (Beats In Space/DFA) has a touring schedule that would make most grown men weep but he's managed to find time to come and party with us on New Year's Eve. New Yorker and DFA honcho Tim is the man behind cult radio show Beats In Space, which has seen anyone who is anyone (including yours truly) grace the studio with their selections.
A Horse Meat Disco party wouldn't be complete without a bit of drag and performance so we've enlisted the help of Jonny Woo. London's best showgirl who wowed everyone at Glastonbury at the NYC Downlow as well as packing them in every month for his Gay Bingo. We're not sure what to expect from Jonny and his cohorts but one thing is sure.... You won't forget it in a hurry!!!
Taking place at Cargo in the heart of Shoreditch, Horse Meat Disco will be bringing everything that has made it the best weekly club in London. Fierce décor, an amazing crowd both gay and straight and a vibe that is truly unique to bring in the new year!
