Rene Black Math has brewed for us a night of pop, indie and rock that brings together several different approaches towards the same subject matter – great songs.
Having been making music since she was but ten years old, Eliza Doolittle’s launch into the public consciousness has been long in waiting…and it seems her time is now! Signed by the trend-setters at Parlophone, this charming London-based singer-songwriter combines pop and soul to create a sweet vintage sound that is as enticing as it is enchanting. Infatuation warning!
Indie band Stricken City make refreshingly engaging and sincere music. Their edgy but gentle sound can be a kind of new wave-britpop-disco, and while sometimes it reminds us of this or that band from the 80's, 00's or whatever, thanks to a certain musical inventiveness and singer Rebekah Raa's captivating style the music never crosses into derivative territory. Stricken City posses a freshness that is often the result of musicians enjoying what they are doing, and have been acknowledged for it by a recent crop of enthusiastic reviews. We are very happy to have them play under our arch.
More great tunes and proper party vibes will be coming from the DJ stand, with mastermind Rene Black Math, renaissance man and music scene socialite Ronnie Joice and other special guests spinning records. We will also get a chance to catch a DJ set from up and coming pop princesses duo Mini Viva, whose hit my heart was left in tokyo was declared by NME to be “the catchiest single of 2009”. Mini Viva is brainchild of song-writing and production house Xenomania, who also helped with Kylie Minogue, Girls Aloud and Sugababes. By the way, for those of you who were not aware, POP=FUN.
