On Wednesday, 21st May 2008, Cargo in Old Street will be venue for the first of a series of A&R showcase events to be hosted in the capital by Drift Music Agency. Aptly titled ‘The Master Jam’, the event will redefine the format for Urban showcases, with the absolute cream of London’s Hip Hop, R&B and Urban crop - a window into the next twelve months of London’s emerging and established talent. Providing a combination of live formats, the evening will start off with performances by Charlie Sloth, Orlando Godson, Juliette Ashby, Mentalist and groundbreaking hip hop violinist Addagio, all playing with the Master Jam live band, (which the more seasoned veteran Hip Hop heads will recognize as the instrumental half of South London’s favourite hip hop band The Focused Few).
The industry showcase will be followed by a half hour hip hop and R&B open mic, with a featured guest appearance by World Beatbox Champion Faith SFX, followed by a DJ set by 1Xtra’s DJ Ace on the turntables. To top off an all star cast, the night will close with a rare performance by Mama Said, London’s most exciting Hip Hop/R&B live super crew, fronted by UK DMC Champion DJ IQ on production and turntables, with Skrein (Undali/ Dented Records) and Graziella (Foreign Beggars) on vocals.
