KRIA BREKKAN (formerly of múm / Paw Tracks)
WALLS
7.30pm - 10.30pm | FREE!!!
KRIA BREKKAN is the alter ego of Icelandic musician Kristin Anna Valtysdottir, formerly of the band múm. Signed to Paw Tracks, she released an album with Avey Tare of Animal Collective (her husband) two years ago called 'Pullhair Rubeye' which was a trip of backwards vocals, found sounds and joyous melody, now she returns after a spell in folk ensemble Storsveit Nix Noltes with a new solo EP called 'Uterus Water' released next month again on Paw Tracks. Kristin's music is fluid and surprising - vocals glide gleefully across bubbling, popping samples, whilst lost piano refrains loom large before submerging. It's a constantly evolving music, made from instruments she draws shelter from, making for countless leap-off points in her songs, what direction she takes next no one can say.
WALLS are a band from London consisting of members Sam Willis (of Allez-Allez) and Alessio Natalizia (of Banjo Or Freakout). Taking their inspiration from a sense of discovery, curiosity and a playful approach to making music, Walls have a pastoral take on the natural world, making music that has a natural and personal feel. Drawing on diverse influences including Neu!, Michael Rother and Mobius, Walls work with lush guitar lines, slo-mo techno rhythms, rolling synth and hushed vocals to conjure a blissed-out ambient pop of their very own. Look out for Walls' debut album, coming out soon on Kompakt.
