Electronic nights are as common as rain in London. You could ask someone in the street about what to do on a particular night and you will always get a response. However if I went up to someone and asked them if there were any upcoming ‘all-female performing' club nights I'd probably be given directions to Stringfellows.
See You Next Tuesday will be an opportunity to raise awareness of a growing movement, contribute to the cause and also dance, vibe and drink to awesome tunes and marvellous mixing provided by a host of supremely talented female performers. And the cause? 1 in 3 women in the UK are at the receiving end of violent outbursts. Any money contributed on top of the £70 million already raised will make a difference across the UK to local charities providing services to women at risk.
We will also hopefully have volunteers with cool looking buckets asking for donations on the door.
(Wo)manning the decks and mics will be... drum roll please;
Ikonika (Hyperdub Records)
Encompassing all the genres you can think of and then smashing them all to shit, Ikonika brings her mix of funky, 2-step, dubstep and all the other steps for a killer headline set. Nice.
Goldielocks - (Puregroove)
Make no mistake, Goldielocks has her fingers and toes rooted in many creative pies. From producing for top stars like Tinchy Stryder and that one from Sugababes, to coordinating the music for fashion god Marc Jacobs' catwalk shows. Oh and she raps too! She describes her music as pop, dubstep, rnb and grime. So what's not to like?
Cooly G - (Hyperdub Records)
May well be the most talented Mum in music today (and I don't just mean 'the underground', I'm talking about everything). And if you can't catch her blitzing the opponents net for fun when playing for Tooting and Mitcham, then come along to SYNT and witness her mix and groove up the dance floor with her funked up house stylings.
Fatima - (Eglo Records)
She may be known for her ridiculous vocal depth and ability to make any standard hip hop track sound enchanting, but lets not forget that Fatima can seriously move. She makes Floating Points and Alex Nut sound better, just by moving about. In fact, I'm surprised Ini Kamoze hasn't re-released Hotstepper in her honour.
Lucy Pink - (Diesel Radio)
The darling selector of Diesel (quote me quote me) graces the V-Cargo stage promising to unleash the freshest UK hip-hop sounds (including songs other than Witness, yes!) with a dash of old school classic humdingers. Apologies for the Tony Blackburn style description; all you need to know is she'll get the hips wiggling and bodies jiggling. Shit, I did it again.
