Well we're back! After the roadblock that was our last Cargo session we wanted to make sure that our next takeover was as good, and you know what I think we can stand before you and say MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
We've got 4 incredible live acts, My Tiger, My Timing, Portasound, Line, and Band of Skulls, whilst manning the decks we have some of our favourite DJs, italo visionaries Heartbreak and Andy Blake, boss of one of the best record labels around at the moment, Dissident. And what's it going to cost you? Why nothing of course!
Who's Who?
Taking a turn on the decks will be Heartbreak, which is a good thing as they are truly wonderful. Live they're like seeing a top of his game Freddy Mercury moonlighting with Giorgio Moroder, truly a thing of wondrous beauty, and they're not too shabby on the decks either. Expect a glorious mix of italo, electro and disco from these superstars in waiting.
Andy Blake runs the dissident label and has a huge collection of wild and exotic disco, italo, afro-cosmic, hi-nrg & acid house records that he regularly plays to packed dance floors at all kinds of different clubs and parties. You can always expect a wild and crazy ride thru the finest dance music of the last 30 years whenever you have the chance to hear Andy dj.
My Tiger My Timing have become a bit of an obsession of mine recently so it’s a pleasure to have them join us at Cargo. Andy Spence from New Young Pony Club would seem to agree as he has produced their debut single, the glorious slice of experimental disco pop that is ‘This Is Not The Fire’, which perfectly timed was released last week.
Hailed as the most exciting UK synth act since Metronomy, Portasound, comprising of brothers Michael and James Dow and their friend Luke Bell, make the kind of frantic punk funk meets charity shop electro disco we all love so much. Having toured with the likes of Shit Disco, Friendly Fires and the aforementioned Metronomy, Portasound are surely destined for great things.
Next up we have Neil Wells, known to the record buying public as Line, an artist who we liked so much we made him the debut artist or our own Hot Pockets label. Currently riding high on the critical acclaim of his debut album 'Hearts' a gorgeous emotional rollercoaster ride of pop and electronica that has seen him compared to acts like Hot Chip.
Hotly tipped three piece Band Of Skulls join us fresh from releasing their debut album 'Baby Darling Doll Face Honey', stripped down, raw and bluesy rock n' roll.
Slutty Fringe, that's us, gentlemen bloggers and your hosts for tonight.
