ExitingARM is the third full-length release from Bay Area sextet Subtle. It represents an exciting new chapter in the adventurous pop group’s career. Over the course of two LPS, four EPs and collaborations with the likes of Beck, Wolf Parade, Tunde Adebimpe of TV On the Radio, Soft Pink Truth, The Notwist, Ms. John Soda, Hood and more along the way, Subtle’s music has taken the group across the globe. Whether it finds itself in the studio or the live setting, the group’s malleability has given them the ability to nurture its strengths as musicians and develop into an unstoppable musical force.
The energy a Subtle show creates is one of sheer exuberance and instills awe in its audiences. It’s no wonder its fan base grows with each tour and why they’ve amassed such a devout, grassroots following. The group has played festivals the world over, and headlined US and European tours. They’ve shared the stage with a diverse array of artists like TV On The Radio, Minus the Bear, Why? and Black Moth Super Rainbow. This spring, Subtle will support ExitingARM with their first world tour, which will include headline US and European dates.
ExitingARM is a post-modern pop opus that’s crafted with the production sensibility of hip-hop and a prog/krautrock sense of collective composition. Subtle emboldens its sound with a unique songwriting style that’s loaded with fully developed characters and ongoing storylines, for an engrossing blend of prose and comic book imagery. Its unique brand of pop has generated critical acclaim from respected media outlets across the globe including Pitchfork, The Wire, Q, Uncut, The Guardian, Spin, XLR8R, URB and many more.
