The next installment of Summer Bubblers celebrates the next generation of BASS ALL STARS. We leave behind the wonky sounds and head straight to the future basics of what makes clubbers move to the bassline.
Nineteen year old Bristol sensation, Joker, headlines this night with his particular crusade to alter the sound of dubstep. His calculated use of incredible p-funk synth melodies have garnered major attention from female fans, who at times get lost in the heady masculine sound at traditional dubstep and grime nights. Joker asserts that he makes music suitable for sub woofer less homes or headphones, "for people who don't have decks." Joker's recent release, Digidesign, on Kode 9's Hyperdub label and has already been heralded as the most played track at dubstep nights this year. And for good reasons... It rocks a party.
The scene worldwide has become familiar with the "optimistic summer jams" of West London producer Bullion. His impeccable Young Heartaches EP exemplifies his talent for genre blending (not mashing) digitized hip hop with fun pop narratives. Bullion's remix project Pet Sounds: In the Key of Dee was downloaded 100,000 times without any promotion or official release and is working on a slew of exciting remix projects for the likes of Bat for Lashes, Tricky, and Malian super group Amadou & Mariam.
The rest of the July's line up aims to keep the room nice and sweaty with a live performance from dancehall sensation De Tropix, LuckyMe's producer outfit The Blessings, Rinse FM's Alexander Nut, and Katie Skills. It's going to be a definite hotter than July affair.
