The first Yard Party was all about electronic wizardry with laptops and kids' toys (if you weren't there don't ask!). For the second Yard Party of the summer it's all about the glitch and glamour as Cargo throws open its doors to present four sterling acts for absolutely ZERO pence! There will be the usual goodies thrown in thanks to our lovely friends over at Four Roses Bourbon and Estrella Damm, so don't miss what is set to be an amazing party...
Playing live are Heartbreak, AKA Ali Renault on keyboards and Sebastian Muravchix on vocals. These boys fuse their varied backgrounds of metal, electro and Italian pop to create a disco hybrid sound. Imagine disco infused with the dark energy of Black Sabbath! According to the dynamic duo "It will make you dance with tears in your eyes...like bi-polar maniacs in the brink of an ecstatic panic attack" - OK!
Joining Heartbreak will be The Oscillation who veer between krautrock edginess and bittersweet pop melancholia, droning medicated tones and noise-driven-no-wave-fuzz. From multi-instrumentalist and producer Demian Castellanos, The Oscillation rose out of the ashes of the critically acclaimed Orichalc Phase and released their debut album ‘Out Of Phase' in October 2007.
Since the release of their album, extensive live appearances alongside acts like Chrome Hoof, Deerhunter and Andrew Weatherall have helped hone a live outfit that has beguiled audiences far and wide. Aided by the unique visuals of photographic artist Julian Hand, their live show is a kaleidoscopic whirl of psychedelia that charms every sense.
Next up, and Grandson of a Pentecostal preacher, is New York born artist/producer Ezra Bang. His first release was a limited 7" single on Liverpool's cult label du jour, Invicta Hi Fi Records (Ladytron, Pop Levi) and so far, he's received features & reviews in The Guardian, Vice Magazine, & Disorder; a track featured on a 3 Mobile advert and support slots with everyone from DJ Mehdi, Chromeo, Yo! Majesty, Busy P, Jack Penate & Ladytron. Look out for the release of new E.P. "Fight For The Underground", which is scheduled for a June 2008 release.
Also on the bill are Horse Meat Disco who have become an institution and appreciation to Disco music in all its forms. The brainchild of James Hillard and Jim Stanton via the inspiration of New York nightlife legend Adam Goldstone (RIP), the idea was to create an alternative party that harped back to the halcyon days of parties like The Loft in New York whilst at the same time adapting it for a London crowd.
With DJ support from Piers Martin from Cocadisco, this is sure to be one of the hottest Yard parties this Summer! Stay tuned and check the website for details...
