Pishter events presents Ukrainians + Fatima Spar + Meky Zbirka Live
UKRAINIANS (United Kingdom)
The Ukrainians grew out 80's indie icons The Wedding Present who decided to give one of their John Peel sessions on Radio One a bit of a Ukrainian feel. The Legendary Len Liggins was brought in as an extra member because he sang in a couple of Slavic languages and played authentic eastern European sounding violin. The huge popularity of the session took the lads, the public and Mr Peel by surprise, and shortly after The Ukrainians were born. Nike ads and European success later the set the band has ‘Ukrainianised' music from The Smiths, Velvet Underground, Prince and Kraftwerk.
FATIMA SPAR & THE FREEDOM FRIES (Austria, Turkey, Serbia, Bulgaria, Ukraine)
Over the past few years, Fatima Spar and her band of Freedom Fries has developed its own unique and particular sound. Confidently blending the old with the new and without jumping on any bandwagons on the way Fatima Spar and The Freedom Fries successfully straddle with worlds of Alternative, World and Jazz. Their well received and critically acclaimed second album "TRUST", recorded in the famous Hazelwood Studios in Frankfurt, is testament to how far the band has come.
