The Wonky Pop Club arrived in July, Cargo opened its doors and hosted the kind of night dreams are made of. The first night featured the likes of Alphabeat, Ebony Bones, The Clik Clik, a Hoolahoop Girl and more. The press approved, "serious partying business" said the Guardian Guide and the venue was packed full of London's nightlife. Ladies and gentleman... all hail the return of pop to club land.
Wonky Pop is a celebration of all that is warped and pleasingly eccentric in modern pop music. Like the days of Madonna and Chic, credible pop music is back and pleasing the ears of even the most staunch muso. Shoreditch will now get a regular dose of skewed magic every second Thursday of the month. Expect more amazing live acts, unexpected DJs and other beautifully twisted performances guaranteed to stimulate and entertain the most jaded music lover.
