ZACH HILL has earned his stripes as co-founder of the Sacramento-born duo-turned-quintet HELLA with whom he's recorded four albums and a number of EPs, split releases and compilation tracks. Hill, considered one of the most innovative drummers of modern music, has spent the past year working on his solo debut 'Astrological Straits' as well as touring and recording with Marnie Stern. This new album marks the first time he's acted as ringleader, composer, chief vocalist and art director. Hill's career as a drummer boasts a mind-melting number of collaborations from his work in the face-melting Nervous Cop project to his jazz-oriented gigs with Nels Cline and members of Sun Ra's Arkestra, to his roles backing Mike Patton, harpist Joanna Newsom and the Mars Volta's Omar Rodriguez-Lopez.For this show he plans to perform the new album alongside his newly recruited band PEER PRESSURE who include Nick Reinhart (Tera Melos) , Dan Elkan (Hella, Them Hills, Team Sleep) and Jonathan Hischke (Hella, Flying Luttenbachers, Kings & Queens).
THE PRESENT is the new music project of legendary New York musician and producer Rusty Santos (Panda Bear ʽPerson Pitchʼ, Born Ruffians ʽRed Yellow & Blueʼ, Animal Collective ʽSung Tongsʼ). Described by one band who worked with him as a hyper boy genius, Rusty has always fixed his attention on producing music that is experimentally rich whilst remaining accessible. After many years and variant modes of collaboration, Rusty formed together with Mina and Jesse (WHITE MAGIC / GANG GANG DANCE) who bring a plethora of extra dimensions to the sound of THE PRESENT. Debut alum "World I See" will be released worldwide by LO/LOAF recordings early next month.
TRENCHER are a Casio-grindcore (TM) trio from London. They create brutally fast and deceptively complex songs, all bashed out on bass, drums and a toy keyboard. It's heavy, fun and totally absurd! Trencher played UTR's very first show with Deerhoof and so the circle completes...
